Why we need your help

Currently, over 850 children live in D.C.’s foster care system and over 1,200 children are at risk of entering foster care. Children enter foster care for different reasons, but once in care, children experience trauma, separation from their family, and youth who leave foster care without being adopted or reunified with their family are more likely to experience homelessness, incarceration, human trafficking, and less than 4% of youth who age out of foster care go to college. For children and youth in foster care, the odds are against them.

DC127 believes that every child deserves a home and works to find more homes for children in foster care and to prevent children from ever entering foster care by supporting vulnerable families. Against All Odds is an opportunity for you to be part of a city-wide movement and to increase support for families and homes available for children. Right now, there is a shortage of foster homes in Washington, DC, forcing children to sleep in the Child and Family Services office and be in unsafe situations. You can be part of the solution. Join us on June 1st and help us change the odds for children in Washington, DC.
