Professional Resource Parent
A Professional Resource Parent is a resource who is paid a salary to provide foster care services for pregnant and parenting youth who have challenging needs to include behavioral. Emotional, physical, mental health disabilities, substance use/abuse, and significant concerns for their ability to parent. Foster care services include but are not limited to parenting/nurturing, housing, transportation, recreational activities, support for parenting and full participation in treatment/transition planning. Resource Parents will be an active part of the treatment team, provide stability for the youth and their child.children and actively work towards positive well-being and permanency outcomes for them.
The program goals for the program are as follows:
Placements of pregnant and parenting youth (PPY) in a home of a Professional Parent will be planned through the Office of Youth Empowerment (OYE) in a partnership with the Placement administration. OYE will facilitate meetings between prospective professional foster parents and PPY identified to have a need for placement in a professional foster parent home setting to allow for youth and parents to get to know each other prior to placement.
The purpose of the profile is to assess the appropriateness of the candidates interesting in serving as Professional Parents for PPY.
