DC127's Church Mobilization program provides churches in DC pathways to effectively care for widows and orphans. We know your church cares for the orphaned and vulnerable because of how we have been greatly cared for in Jesus.

DC127’s goal is to empower churches to support families in their community, and work to provide churches with the necessary tools, support, and resources. It also connects individual churches to a larger network of churches, organizations, and communities mobilized around kinship, foster care, and families at-risk of separation.

why the church?

Partnering with churches is strategic: Communities of support that seek to love and serve one another already exist within congregations and the church is called to “care for orphans and widows in their distress.” The church is uniquely positioned to make sustainable change in the lives of children and families in our city. No other institution in the world can embrace children and support their families like the local church.

As an organization, we affirm the biblical call to care for vulnerable people in our city. We believe that God has called us to tangibly and personally respond to the plight of our neighbors. (James 1:27)

The Apostle's Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.

He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy universal church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

We seek deep engagement with local churches as we work to mobilize the body of Christ in meeting the needs of vulnerable families in Washington, DC.
